Love of a Mother

A beating heart inside of me
Not my own
I feel her kicking softly
Not yet grown
Imagine myself in another
Place in time
Where I have no brother
Or no dime
If I were there in that place
Would I? Could I?
Destroy her tiny face
It seems so distant
But happens every instant
The love for my daughter
Becomes so strong
Taking her to a slaughter
Is too wrong
Pray for those who want an abortion
That the mother will rise within
God will be her portion
He forgives all sin
Let the love of a mother fill their hearts
And let all women care
For the baby when the heartbeat starts
And to await the little one’s stare
